Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create my first construction project?
Navigate to Construction → Projects and click "Create New Project". You'll need to:
- Register or join an organization (if you haven't already)
- Fill in project details (name, description, total contract amount)
- Add project phases and milestones
- Add participants (contractors, subcontractors, etc.)
- Deploy the project to the blockchain (optional but recommended)
Do I need to connect a wallet to use the platform?
For basic project management, a wallet is not required. However, to deploy projects to the blockchain, approve milestones, or authorize payments, you'll need to connect a cryptocurrency wallet (MetaMask, hardware wallet, etc.).
Learn About WalletsHow do I register or join an organization?
Go to Construction → Register Organization to create a new organization, or use "Join Organization" to join an existing one using an invite code. Organizations are required to create and manage construction projects.
How do I view my projects in list vs grid format?
On the Construction Projects page, use the toggle buttons in the top right to switch between List and Grid views. Your preference is saved automatically.
What information is shown in the project dashboard?
The project dashboard displays:
- Project details (name, description, status, total amount in USD)
- Blockchain information (contract address, network, deployment status)
- Project phases and milestones with approval status
- Project participants and their roles
- Payment status and transaction history
How do I approve milestones?
To approve milestones, you need:
- Be a member of an organization with milestone approval permissions
- Have a connected wallet
- Navigate to the project dashboard → Phases & Milestones section
- Click "Approve" on pending milestones
Note: If you created the organization, you automatically have approval permissions. If you're having issues, contact support.
What happens when I deploy a project to the blockchain?
Deploying to the blockchain creates an immutable smart contract that:
- Records all project details permanently
- Manages milestone approvals and payments
- Provides transparency for all participants
- Enables automated payment processing
Projects can be created and managed without blockchain deployment, but deployment adds security and automation.
What are the different organization roles and permissions?
Organization roles determine what actions you can perform:
- Project Managers: Can approve milestones and sign contracts
- Accountants: Can authorize payments
- Signers: Can sign contracts
- Main Roles (Developer, General Contractor): Have all permissions
When you create an organization, you're automatically added as an admin with all permissions.
Why can't I approve milestones?
If you're getting a "does not have milestone approval rights" error, check:
- You're a member of the organization that created the project
- Your organization role has milestone approval permissions
- You have a connected wallet
If you created the organization, you should automatically have these permissions. Contact support if issues persist.
How do I invite team members to my organization?
Go to your organization settings and generate an invite code. Share this code with team members, who can then use "Join Organization" to become members.
How do I process payments for completed milestones?
The payment process works as follows:
- All milestones in a phase must be approved
- Approve the phase for payment (requires milestone approval permission)
- Authorize payment release (requires payment authorization permission)
- Payment is processed automatically via smart contract
All amounts are displayed in USD, not cryptocurrency.
What payment methods are supported?
We support multiple payment methods:
- Electronic Checks (E-Checks): ACH processing for traditional bank transfers
- Blockchain Payments: Cryptocurrency payments via smart contracts
- Hybrid Payments: Combination of traditional and crypto methods
How do I view payment status?
Navigate to Construction → Payment Status to see a comprehensive dashboard of all payment activities, including pending approvals, released payments, and transaction history.
What blockchain network does the platform use?
We primarily use the SEI Network (SEI Mainnet) for production deployments, with support for:
- SEI Mainnet (production)
- SEI Testnet (testing)
- Ethereum Mainnet (optional)
- Avalanche (optional)
Do I need cryptocurrency to use the platform?
You need a small amount of cryptocurrency (native tokens) to pay for blockchain transaction fees (gas fees), which are typically under $0.01 per transaction. You don't need cryptocurrency for the actual project payments - those can be in USD via traditional methods.
How do I view my project on the blockchain?
On the project dashboard, if your project is deployed, you'll see a "View on [Network] Explorer" button that opens the project's smart contract on the blockchain explorer.
What are lien waivers and why do I need them?
Lien waivers are legal documents that protect property owners from mechanics' liens. They're required in most states when making payments to contractors. Our platform automatically generates state-compliant lien waivers.
Lien Waiver GuideHow do I generate lien waivers?
Lien waivers are automatically requested when you approve a phase for payment. Navigate to Construction → Lien Waivers to view and manage all waiver requests.
Are lien waivers state-specific?
Yes, lien waiver requirements vary by state. Our platform automatically generates the correct waiver type based on your project's state. See our State Legal Requirements guide for details.
How do I add contacts to my address book?
Go to Communicate → Contacts and click "Add Contact". You can add contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other business contacts. Contacts can be used when creating projects to quickly add participants.
Can I view contacts in table or grid format?
Yes! The contacts page has a toggle to switch between table and grid views, similar to the projects page.
What information do I need for project participants?
For each participant, you'll need:
- Organization name
- Contract role (Developer, General Contractor, Subcontractor, etc.)
- Ethereum address (for blockchain interactions)
I'm getting a "user does not have milestone approval rights" error
This usually means:
- You're not a member of the organization that created the project
- Your role doesn't have milestone approval permissions
- If you created the organization, you should have these permissions automatically - contact support if this isn't working
My wallet won't connect
Try these steps:
- Make sure you have a wallet extension installed (MetaMask, etc.)
- Refresh the page and try again
- Check that your wallet is unlocked
- Verify you're on the correct network (SEI Mainnet for production)
Project values are showing in ETH instead of USD
This was a display bug that has been fixed. All project values now correctly display in USD. If you still see ETH, try refreshing the page.
I can't see my projects
Make sure:
- You're logged in with the correct account
- You're a member of an organization that created or participates in the project
- Try refreshing the page or switching between list/grid views
